The liberalization policy in the electricity and gas sectors started in the beginning of the 1990s. Since 2000, new challenges such as global warming awareness and security of supply have raised the need for a more adapted European policy in terms of energy. The necessity of integrating these new priorities leads to question the coherence of the European energy policy and its ability to face these new objectives.
